Genetics and miscarriage

Canadian researches have discovers the molecular glitch that explains why so many women lose their babies late in their pregnancy Known as foetal growth restriction , the condition strikes three percent of all pregnancies and is a leading cause of infant deaths. Earlier research had shown that a gene producing a protein known as insulin like growth factor 2 or igf 2 was critical to feed the foetus and help foetal cells divide and grow. The Canadian results showed that the normal form of this protein has a very long chemical structure. However, to function properly when helping to build the placenta, another molecule, PC4 has to effectively work like scissors and cut the growth factor protein to the length crucial to healthy pregnancy.

Tax-planning

The last quarter of the financial year is devoted to an activity, which perhaps is an important as any annual ritual. Yes am talking about the tax planning - an activity on which most investors spend little time. But this year things are going to be different. A lot more time we will have to be dedicated to the tax-planning exercise. And rightly so, because there is a lot more to stake! To put it another way, there is lot more for you to gain this year! In the budget 2008, the finance minister has scrapped section 88 and introduced a new section 80c. In this section, you are free to invest $10000 in any proportion in the approved instruments. Only in public provident fund, the upper limit is capped at $7000. Also this section offers a deduction benefit as against a rebate. What this means is that the$10000 that you saved in the specified instruments is deducted from your income. Therefore the tax benefit that you are eligible for is equivalent to the tax rate that you pay. For example, if you are in 30 % tax bracket, then your savings will be $3000 ($10000* 30%). furthermore, section80c covers all tax payers.

Looking good

Gorgeous brides are made, not born. The beauty routine for a bride-to-be has to begin months in advance. Great look comes with great skin. So every before going to bed, use a cleanser and wipe it off with soft cotton. Then apply a toner to remove excess oil and close pores. A good moisturizer is a vital item on your beauty list; it prevents the gradual loss of skin moisture and the formation of excess lines and wrinkles on the skin. Daily moisturizing helps to keep your skin soft and supple. Use a sunscreen if your skin is exposed to the sun. If your face is oily, wash it often but if you have dry or normal skin, a home-made mask of Besan, Malai and Haldi applied regularly for a few weeks will give a special glow to your face. Exercise regularly. If you are overweight, try and lose weight, but don't go in for a crash diet before the wedding. Eat a lot of fruits, sprouts and salads rather than oily, fatty food.

How to take your own pulse

What you are actually feeling when you take your pulse is the waves of blood traveling from the heart along the main artery. The pulse rate resembles how fast the heart beats. The pulse is normally felt at the wrist , because the beat is strong and in an easily accessible place, but pulses can be felt in many other parts of the body, such as neck.

The Resting Pulse
To take your pulse, use a watch that shows seconds
1.Hold the wrist with your right hand and move the first two fingers of your right hand until you can feel the pulse just under your thumb on the left wrist.
2.Count the number of beats that occur during a sixty seconds interval.

Multiply the number of beats by two to get the number of beats per minute.
Pulse rate varies, but 70-85 beats per minute is average for men and 75-90 beats is average for women
To use the 'resting pulse' you should do the first thing in the morning, while sitting in a relaxed position.

Do it wrong the first time

Yes Thomas Edison , Albert Einstein, Tom Peters, Peter Drucker and others that practiced and/or preached innovation all lived and thrived by doing some thing wrong the first time. They had to do it wrong the first time precisely because it was the first time. Edison had over 1500 patents but million of prototypes and projects. He had to do it wrong a lot of times before he could do it right. Each of the people was pushing the envelope in their area, and had no previous example of how to do it right. To push, learn, grow, we should follow in their footsteps and not fear failure.
